How to get a website you're proud of

Hey Reader,

As we speak, people are putting up aircon in my office!! I can't tell you how happy I am with that. I have been in my attic office for 11 years (14 years in business soon), and with the heatwaves in the Netherlands getting longer and longer, it's not always been pleasant up here. But no more issues from today forward!

Which will be great when I will be working on a Website in a Week for a fabulous client (you know who you are ;) ) next month. Heatwave or not, I will be ready to build.

Now, I know websites are a big investment (just like aircon) and no matter whether you build yourself or you let me (or someone else) build it, you want to make sure the process goes as smoothly, and the result is a great success.

So how do you achieve that?

  1. Prepare your content:
Gather your texts and images in advance. Do a check to make sure it helps your marketing
    1. Is it understandable for your customer? Remove any jargon.
    2. Move paragraphs/sentences about the same thing so they are together.
    3. Give emphasis to important sentences (like the result that the customer will get) by separating them from the rest.
    4. Make sure sentences are short and paragraphs are not too long. It's better to have an extra one if needed.
    5. Do you use words that fit your branding?
    6. Are your images representative of what you want to say but also portray? Do they fit your branding?
  2. Focus on your customer:
What do you want your customers to know? What do you want your customer to do? Make sure those elements are easy to find and that the website is easy to navigate.
  3. Check-in a lot:
If you are building yourself, regularly check how you feel about how things are looking (on all devices) so you can make changes immediately if necessary. If you let someone build it, regular feedback helps ensure the site will meet your and your customer needs.

My own process is built on these pillars, and I've experienced it helps my clients a lot because:

  • we create a functional, attractive website with marketing that fits you and your customer
  • the allotted time of a week saves a lot of back-and-forth and uncertainty about when it's done, reducing stress.
  • my focused time during a week working on it means you can focus on your business while I create your website.

If you want a new website in the fall, now is the time to contact me for more information and to book your slot!
